Blank by Septembre

Blank by Septembre

French architecture studio Septembre, founded in 2010 and based in Paris, is a real creative bomb! The team of designers specialised in interior design, urban planning and architecture bring their ideas to life in France and abroad. Blank, in its minimalistic and clean design, becomes useful, inviting space for a modern family.

"Renovation of a 70m² apartment for a family of four in the 19th district of Paris. Project delivered in july 2011. Removing the partition walls created a larger living area, with an open kitchen becoming the main feature of the space."

Idakoro by mA-style architects

Idakoro by mA-style architects

"There is a life in house.
There are various scenes also in a life.
Various scenes are performed at the place on which it decided.
Mother cooks in kitchen. And family has a meal in a dining-room.
Then, they relax in living. They sleep at a bedroom.
A function determines the name of the room.
However, I would like to live in a comfortable place, without being caught by a fixed concept.
We named the comfortable place ĀuidokoroĀv.
Idokoro means comfortableness.

For example,
This place is sunny in this time...Idokoro looks like living-room.
I would like to read calmly...Idokoro looks like library.
I would like to sleep in the airy room...Idokoro looks like Bedroom.
I would like to eat in the sun...Idokoro looks like dining-room.
I would like to study intensively today...Idokoro looks like stdy-room.
The room is untidy these days...Idokoro looks like Storage.
Although Idokoro is merely somewhat ambiguous, it produces various scenes.
Idokoro also brings various expression and sense of distance to space.
And people are always in the middle of these Idokoro.
Idokoro is in agreement with people following a daily life." - said Maria.

House in Itami by Tato Architects

House in Itami by Tato Architects

This narrow house in Itami was a true architectural challenge for Tato Architects. Climbing its way up with the clean cubical facade, this living space is a combination of stairs, glass and wooden furniture with a modern Japanese vibe. Maximizing utility aspects needs minimallistic approach.

'When I have the honor of seeing an architect-designed house, I sometimes feel as if design furniture is telling messages. I wonder if it is right to summarize by saying “respect the original space and don’t bring any unnecessary things”, but it seems almost like a strong desire as much as to say not to fill the space with anything does not deserve it. (...) In this house, architectural elements such as stairs, a laundry space, closets, hand rails and toilets are made as if those are furniture. Except for those, there are only floors. As such, architecture and furniture are mingled and those meanings become relative each other, in which way I keep trying to create freedom in rooms as if all of those are just randomly placed and used by chance.'

Kabinett by Septembre

Kabinett by Septembre

Parisian architecture studio Septembre brings interior design to a new level. The team of designers presents another beautiful apartment with white, wood and glass elements, multifunctional furniture and inside windows. Black open kitchen pops out and creates additional dimension to the space.

"The conversion of a former manufacturing workshop in a Parisian alley to a family apartment. Multifunctional wooden cabinetry lines the perimeter of the space to open up the central living area."

Landet Järna by Horn.Uggla

Landet Järna is not an ordinary flower shop. Yes, you can find flowers here, but you can also feel the wilderness! The store is connected with a restaurant and a bar next door, and paires plants with food and drinks there. The change of seasons and lack of natural experience in an every day life inspired this project. Elsa Uggla with sisters Johanna and Maria Horn created the space and concept of this extraordinary place. Beautiful photography by Mikael Axelsson.

"Even though it is increasingly common to find products that are locally produced, seasonal, pesticide-free and fair trade, it is surprisingly difficult to find flowers and plants that are. Landet Järna's suppliers are based in Järna, south of Stockholm where people have been growing organically following Rudolf Steiner’s biodynamical methods since the ‘60s. (...) Led by curiosity, they started exploring what grows in the Stockholm area during the various months of the year and testing for how long the plants last after being cut. They describe the project as an ongoing experiment and a challenge. “It is far more time- consuming to keep track of what is available in nature and source it from our suppliers th

an to make a quick trip to the wholesale market. Also the winter season is pretty long here so it is important to find variation during this period” says Elsa. (...) “It is not always easy to have access to nature in an urban environment and lots of people don ́t have a garden. The idea is that Landet Järna help supply Stockholmers with a piece of nature through our plants”, says Maria."
