UKRAINE'S TUNNEL OF LOVE

Friday, 13 June 2014 09:00
The words 'Tunnel of Love' tend to conjure up images of swan boats floating along man-made 'streams', and hormone-ravaged adolescents trying to nab themselves a smooch in the dark. Or it might even plant a Dire Straits ear worm in your brain, although this particular passageway has nothing to do with that.
Located in Ukraine, near the town of Kleven, the Tunnel of Love was formed after a single train spent years to-ing and fro-ing across a lone set of tracks. As the trees grew freely around the rails, a locomotive-shaped pathway was eventually carved through their branches, and now all we want to do is frolic down its leafy 3km length. Supposedly if you cross the tunnel while holding your loved one's hand all your wishes will come true, too, so you get nature, beauty and magic all in one. Sounds like good value to us.
